Search for missing man continues

The search for missing 22-year-old Christopher Bates in the Alexandra area continues.

Police staff and LandSAR volunteers from the Wakatipu and Central Otago areas are involved in the search as well as a large group of Christopher’s family and friends.

A specialist search dog team is also assisting. 

The search is focused on the area east of the Alexandra township.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen him recently or has information about his movements last week.

Anyone with information is asked to call 111.

Police are appealing for any sightings of 22-year-old Christopher James Bates.

Chris was last seen leaving home in Central Alexandra about 1pm on Sunday 11 February, when he said  that he was heading to the river to meet with a friend but has not been seen since.

Chris is described as being of slim build, about 180cm tall, with short to medium length brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a pair of dark shorts, a white t-shirt and sneaker style shoes.

Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Chris should please contact the Alexandra Police Station on 03 440 2500.
